The association of Femmes Vignes Rhone (Women Winemakers of the Rhone Valley) was created in 2004 by Anne Hughes, a winegrower in the Luberon at Domaine de la Royère, and the President of Inter-Rhone Michel Bernard.

Femmes Vignes Rhone members cover many fields of wine related professions including wine growers/makers, onologists, sommeliers, wine brokers, wine merchants, sales, marketing and public relations specialists, and journalists.

With more than 30 members, the association represents the appellations Cotes du Rhone, Cotes du Rhone Villages, Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Visan, Vacqueyras, Gigondas, Beaumes de Venise, Coteaux du Tricastin, Cotes du Ventoux, Cotes du Luberon et Costières de Nimes …

The FVR association is full of energy, willing and good humour, grouping women of many different outlooks, nationalities and ages. This rich diversity allows for open, constructive and useful exchanges, where all members of the group can benefit from their common experiences.

The aims and objectives of the Femmes Vignes Rhone association are fourfold:

Promote the work of women in the businesses of viti and viniculture:
- To reinforce the role of female wine growers in this traditionally masculine environment
- To be recognised by both professionals and the general public

Exchange of information:
- Between members:
- With other professionals
- To perfect tasting techniques
- To acquire a better understanding and knowledge of products of the Rhone Valley to best partner the wines of the region.

Simplify the approach to wine for the general public
- Creation of the concept 'L'Apéro-Vin' - organising themed wine tastings in convivial locations (restaurants; wine bars, specialist wine shops)
- Organising non-technical wine tastings based on a simple and epicurean approach to wine, together with advice on serving wine and wine/food associations.

Further the promotion and distribution of Rhone Valley wines
- Creating themed events (tasting/sales on Woman's Day)
- Participating at different public events (Truffle and wine fair at Carpentras, Les speciales du Rallye de Monte Carlo at Valance)
- FVR stands at events for the general public (Bouquets de Vins at Valence) and professionals (Vinisud at Montpellier)
- Overseas tastings (meeting professionals at Dusseldorf in Germany, public and professional tasting with Baronnie des Costes du Rhone in Switzerland)
